The NSLS is the largest and only accredited leadership honor society in the nation, with more than 700 chapters
and over 1.5 million members. With a flexible online curriculum, the NSLS is perfect for all students, especially
those who are balancing full course loads with families and full-time jobs.

The NSLS aligns with our mission of teaching students skills that will last a lifetime. Throughout the program,
students hone valuable, in-demand skill sets that hiring managers specifically look for, including leadership,
relationship-building, goal-setting, and effective communication

The SOU Student Food Pantry is committed to providing students with food and other basic necessities to alleviate the effects of hunger and poverty. Through this resource, SOU strives to promote human dignity and increase the likelihood of continued academic success. Students at SOU are invited to visit the Student Food Pantry weekly to assist in their needs.

The Stevenson Union is the premier place for student events, dining, studying, and relaxation on campus.
The Stevenson Union offers:
a supportive environment for cultural, recreational, educational, social, and service activities;
appropriate facilities for the diverse needs and activities of the campus community;
a sense of community that fosters university pride.
The SU is funded by the student incidental fee and was constructed in 1972, named after SOU President Elmo Stevenson.

Since 1994, the Success at Southern/TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program has committed to increasing the college retention, academic standing, and graduation rates of eligible participants. By providing a variety of services to meet students' needs, we assist eligible participants in clarifying their goals, succeeding academically in their chosen program of study, and graduating with a bachelor's degree in a timely manner.
Success at Southern/TRIO-SSS program is funded through a federal grant and is limited to 190 participants per academic year. During these years, Success at Southern/TRIO-SSS program has served more than 1,500 students, most of them first-generation and low-income students.
Our Objectives
1. Good Academic Standing: 89% of all project participants served by the TRIO project will meet the performance level required to stay in good academic standing at the grantee institution.
2. Persistence Rate: 75% of all project participants served by the TRIO project will persist from one academic year to the beginning of the next academic year.
3. Bachelor’s Degree Attainment: 46% of new participants served each year will graduate within six years.
