Actors club is a club that provides a safe space for everyone interested in the performing arts to present their art to peers and the community. This is not limited to just Theatre majors, it is open to any student looking for a place to meet friends, see, and participate in theatre.

​This club is dedicated to creating animated shorts in a team environment. Members gain valuable industry skills and experience through practice. We plan to produce a 1-2 minute animated short each year. Each member will use their unique skills to work in collaboration to create the animated short for that year. A variety of skills will be needed to produce a successful animated short, including (but not limited to); 2D/3D animation, background design, script writing, sound design, storyboarding, voice acting, and more! At the end of each year there will be a showcase event to show off the hard work that all of our members put towards creating the animated short!

Athletes in Action is a community to help you grow as an athlete in many ways. We speak on physical, mental and spiritual growth. The goal of this organization is to be with like minded people when trying to pursue your growth in faith. We have dinner every tuesday night followed by a bible study session. We connect students with each other and professors in the biology department that can provide a new perspective to academic and career goals in biology. We go on regular outings to build community, appreciate the natural beauty of Ashland, and build in care for mental and physical health into the college experience. The Chemistry Club is open to ALL SOU students regardless of major or department, we hope to create an environment where everyone that enjoys cool science feels welcome!

The SOU Chemistry Club is an affiliate of the American Chemical Society that aims to promote an appreciation of chemistry through demonstrations, volunteer activities, and social gatherings.
We work to improve skills in communicating science to the public through events like Fall into Chemistry, our annual demo show.
Members also build community with others who love science—join us for game nights, tie dying, and more!

The main purpose of the SOU chess club is to provide a space for SOU students & alumni to play chess casually, learn tactics together, and discuss current events in the global chess community. This club is open to players of all skill levels including new players who have never played before, but are interested in learning. Chess has been known to have an intimidating stigmatization surrounding it, which can make prospective players feel overwhelmed or intimidated when learning how to play. The SOU chess club aims to change that commonly held predisposition and to create an environment of friendly sportsmanship, community, and collective growth. Players that are seeking a more competitive atmosphere can also find opportunities to challenge similarly skilled or higher level players in friendly tournaments against fellow members or represent SOU in tournaments that may be held locally, for example.

The Club Board of Advisors (previously Club Board of Directors) is a student organization that works to help support SOU clubs and organizations by providing trainings, allocating funds, and encouraging groups and individuals to increase their engagement on campus. If democracy can be learned, but citizenship must be practiced, Club CivicUs is a group of students
seeking to promote civic engagement in our community. This is not a political group, in fact we
encourage a variety of backgrounds. Working from the tenants of the CivicUs philosophy course on
campus, we are a group looking to support, create, and engage in active civic community projects. When it is easy to feel like a small cog in a big system, we propose that working together within our smaller community at SOU, being part of actionable projects within our greater community of Ashland can help support being an active Citizen.

Creative Writing Club is a place for horse girls, snake charmers, raven hearts, reality TV lovers, and those resembling writers. It's a place to share words, combine them, create new ones, chew on them only to spit them back up. It's where reality becomes story and story becomes truth. In Creative Writing Club, there are no borders, only ways to destroy them. We not only practice the art of writing, we give it new meaning. We do this through sharing our work, developing routines, exploring form, and putting on readings for all the strange and unusual to enjoy.

Members gain access to a safe and supportive space for sharing, discussing, and critiquing both their own writing and others' writing. Sharing is always voluntary! Additionally, members can attend a variety of events, including book swaps, open mic nights, zine creation, and guest speaker appearances. Finally, members who are interested in publication will have opportunities to learn how to submit their work to literary magazines during Submitathons!

Capitalizing on the unique and varied environmental settings in southern Oregon, the Environmental Science, Policy, and Sustainability program effectively prepares its students for success in a broad range of environmental careers and fosters in them, by example, a commitment to serving the community. The program curriculum provides students with the interdisciplinary academic knowledge and the practical experiences necessary for them to successfully address complex environmental issues, both regional and global. The program serves as a resource to our community by providing student and faculty expertise for specific projects affecting the environmental health of our region.

This is a club for the students, and run by the students. The motto for the club is taken from Jaques line in Act 2 scene 7, of As You Like It, "All the world's a stage,..."(2.7.140) This club is not a directing class or a directing project. This is a club geared to get members, if they don’t already to start seeing plays from a director’s point of view and perspective. This club is also geared to have a learning experience with the guest speakers we have as they share their experience, how they got top where they’re at, and what it’s like working with who they work with and also from the question and answer time we have with them. Next this club is also to be point members in the right direction as members are given a suggestion as who to talk to if they want to be a stage director or just want to know more about the ins and outs of stage directing if they are interested.

1. Aside form being a member in the club, this will be a learning experience for each member.
2. Members will learn to see plays especially the ones we look at and see at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival from a director’s point of view and perspective.
3. Members will get to see live and professional theatre each semester at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
4. Members will learn from each other as we share about each play we look at and see at OSF what stood out to them.
5. Members will benefit from the guest speakers as they share their experience, how they got to where they’re at today and what it’s working with who they work with. They’ll also benefit from the question and answer time we have with them.
6. Members will benefit from being suggested who to talk to if they want to be a director or want to know more about the ins and outs of directing, if they’re interested.
7. Whatever their career is in theatre they may get ideas for a certain project, a show or a future project or show. For example, if they want to be a lighting or a sound designer they may get ideas for a show or project or a future one from the plays we look at and/ or see at OSF.
